Things Were Done

Attempted the choco chip brownie pie cookies and sometimes I am viscerally reminded that dimensions make no sense to me. I did freeze the choco chip cookie dough overnight, but it was probably overstuffed anyway, and then the brownies really escaped containment. I cut the excess from around the rings while they were hot, let the others cool in the rings and then nudged them out. Theyre friggin delicious, so this was not a waste! They just dont look perfect. So sad, will have to try again!

Made The Subway Bread

Followed u/letscookie’s recipe and these came out great! I was in a rush to get the kid to school, so I just sprinkled the parmesan herb mix on top instead of setting up a tray and rolling. Haven’t heard a complaint though! Used them to make tofu parmesan sandwiches for lunch and I fear they will become a problem. Defs recommend them tho!

Finally, It Is Done

Got this quilt kit from By & By at QuiltCon in February, and finally finished. Pattern is Artemis + Fowl by Toad and Sew. Backing is some minky throws I found at the thrift store and pieced together, which made for some chunky seams. I ended up having to hand quilt it since I got 5in into quilting on my machine before the chunky seams broke the bobbin casing. I found a thread here from a few years ago suggesting to hand bind minky backed quilts by machine stitching the binding to the back (which, woof, that was difficult) and using visible stitches on the binding in front, just catching the top fabric and batting. I used a variegated sashiko thread for that, which is hard to see from afar but I love the look of. Also put a little tag on it I got from French Fry Co. Never done tags before, and they’re small but dang it so cute. Overall I’m pretty pleased with how this turned out and I think I might be addicted to hand quilting. Much more chill than machine quilting!
