I'm involved in a civil stalking/harassment case in which anonymous emails and TextNow messages are being investigated.

The emails were sent from three different Outlook accounts, which have since been deleted since 9/2026. The TextNow numbers have also been changed.

i am considering hiring a private investigator to identify who sent the messages. The investigator claims to have access to many of the same investigative resources as law enforcement, including AI-powered databases that can sometimes connect anonymous email accounts to real identities.

They specifically mentioned that if an anonymous email account has a connection to another email associated with someone's real name, they may be able to identify the person.

no subpoenas have been issued to Microsoft or TextNow. The investigator would be working privately for me in a civil case.

I'm curious about a few things:

1. Can private investigators actually identify who created anonymous Outlook accounts using commercial investigative databases such as Tracers, TLOxp, or CLEAR?
2. Can these databases connect two email accounts based on their use on the same computer?
3. Can investigators obtain IP addresses or account registration information without subpoenas?
4. Is hiring a private investigator worth the money in a situation like this, or would legal process directed to Microsoft and TextNow be more effective?

I'd especially appreciate responses from licensed private investigators, digital forensic professionals, or people who have dealt with similar investigations.

I'm looking for realistic information about what private investigators can actually accomplish versus what some companies advertise.

Anybody hired an outside digital forensic company to trace a number? Would that work

I have a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science and I'm trying to decide between getting a master's in Bioinformatics or Software Engineering.

My main goal is to move into a higher-paying career, ideally with the potential to make $120K+, while still being able to leverage my biomedical background.

The two programs I'm considering are very different financially:

• MS Bioinformatics: ~$10K total
• MS Software Engineering: ~$23K total + leveling/prerequisite courses

The Software Engineering program would require me to take leveling courses because my bachelor's isn't in computer science. I'm concerned about how much additional time and money that would add.

Bioinformatics seems like a much more natural fit with my Biomedical Science degree, and the program is extremely affordable. However, I'm worried about the salary ceiling and job market compared with software engineering.

My questions are:

1. How realistic is it to make $100K+ in bioinformatics with a master's?
2. What does an entry-level bioinformatics salary realistically look like?
3. Is the bioinformatics job market significantly worse than software engineering?
4. Would an MS in Bioinformatics + strong programming skills (Python, SQL, Linux, etc.) allow me to move into higher-paying computational biology, bioinformatics engineering, or biotech/AI roles?
5. Would you choose the $10K Bioinformatics master's or spend more on the Software Engineering master's + leveling courses?
6. For someone starting with a Biomedical Science degree, which path has the better ROI and long-term earning potential?

I'm interested in hearing from people who actually work in bioinformatics, computational biology, biotech, or software engineering, especially people who transitioned from a biology/biomedical background.

I’m considering applying to UT Austin’s online Master of Science in Data Science (MSDSO), but I’m unsure whether my academic background is competitive enough.

My undergraduate degree is in Biomedical Science/Biology. I have taken calculus and statistics, and I have Python experience outside of academia through personal/data analytics projects. However, I have not taken multivariable calculus or a formal linear algebra course.

I understand those subjects are recommended/expected preparation for the program, but I do not want to take leveling courses before starting a master's program. I’m trying to determine whether my existing background is enough to be admitted and whether I could learn the missing math concepts as I go.

For people familiar with UT Austin’s MSDSO:

• Would someone with a biology/biomedical degree, calculus, statistics, and some Python experience realistically be admitted?
• How heavily does UT weigh having formal multivariable calculus and linear algebra on your transcript?
• Has anyone been admitted without those courses?
• Is the math something that can realistically be learned alongside the program, assuming I’m willing to put in the work?
• Would my biology/biomedical background be considered useful or relevant for data science admissions?
• How much does Python experience outside of academia help?

If UT Austin is probably not realistic without the formal math prerequisites, I’d also appreciate recommendations for online master's programs in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, AI/ML, etc. that are more friendly toward students coming from biology/biomedical science.

My goal is to transition into a high-paying, non-clinical career. I do not want to work directly in medicine or clinical care.

I'm particularly interested in programs that:

• Are fully online
• Are reasonably affordable
• Don't require a bunch of prerequisite/leveling courses
• Have strong employment/income potential
• Can leverage a biomedical/biology background without requiring me to stay in a clinical career

Would you recommend MSDS, or is there another master's degree that would be a better fit for someone with my background?

What is the subpoena process for tracking a number? I have an attorney, but wondering if it is even worth the effort. What would the subpoena tell me? IP address, location, user? I think the numbers have since been changed multiple times. Has anyone done this and has it worked?

I KNOW IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. I don't need to be told that.

But hypothetically, if Beyoncé were to do a meet and greet in the USA, what city do you think she would choose? Unfortunately, I see it being an odd, unconventional choice. Not ATL, New Orleans, NYC or even Houston. Those cities have crazy hive fans. I think it would be a smaller city (in context) that would be packed for the event, maybe she'd see 50 people or so. lol maybe like an Indianopolis or somewhere a tad safer. I don't see it being a big liberal city.
