Traumatic birth at Morristown Medical Center — emergency hysterectomy — looking for similar experiences

Hi all. Hoping to hear from anyone who has had a difficult or traumatic birth at Morristown Medical Center involving Morris County OBGYN and/or their Lifeline covering physicians (Madison Ave OB/GYN or The Women's Care Source).

What happened:

My wife was induced at 37 weeks for high blood pressure and was on Pitocin for 3 days. At no point did any doctor discuss the risks of a multi-day induction or extended Pitocin use with us.

Over those 3 days she was seen by 4 different doctors (our OB was only involved for 24 hours throughout the entire ordeal). After our baby's heart rate began showing decelerations for an extended period of time, she had a C-section. Because she'd been on an epidural for 2 days and it was no longer effectively blocking pain, she could feel what was happening during the surgery. I had to advocate for her to be put under general anesthesia mid-procedure.

She hemorrhaged after the C-section which led to an emergency, life-saving hysterectomy.

What we're trying to understand:

Looking back, it felt like the team was reluctant to move to a C-section despite the prolonged induction and lack of progress. We're also wondering whether 3 straight days on Pitocin played a role in what happened.

If anyone has experienced or been told about something similar, we'd really like to hear from you.
