2019 Giulia first 3 weeks owned and it’s been a ride.
Bought this 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Sport with a carbon package this was night one. I couldn’t sleep so I detailed it immediately. Private seller, owned by a mechanic, commute time is long for them so I see why they sold it. I bought this car knowing the sellers didn’t put everything in this needed to address its known issues. I Bought for $17k. At 66k miles. Sellers knowingly only maintained oil changes. I knew I needed to do work on this but dealerships were offering same year car@ $22-23k before dealer fees. I felt this risk was worth it and I get to learn about my car immediately.
My first week:
Brakes were below 4mm. Installed new pads and rotors. Did it at a European “certified” shop. They did the procedure wrong so I had to go to the dealer to reflush brake fluid and clear code. Lame but brakes are great now.
I had 2 technical issues when I bought the car, a window didn’t work, infotainment glitched hard or cutout black. Sellers had a basic Walmart battery so I swapped it out for an OEM spec battery and my glitches vanished. Infotainment system operates exactly as expected now. Window works (thank god)
There were no coolant leaks around any hoses. Everything looked great and the dealer confirmed. Doing fluid flushes in the next 1k miles. Which I’m expecting to be $900-$1000+ between oil, transmission and differential fluid + a new serpentine belt. (Does this sound accurate)
When at the gas station, the fuel pump kept stopping as if it was full. I knew it wasn’t. There is a recall (I was aware about already, sellers didn’t mention this issue when I asked them) that does have a remedy for this. Do it asap. Your meter will read accurately too. So far working perfect.
Ran over a nail, realized the tires were the cheapest Walmart tires available. Bought a replacement tire and will be Spending $1000 on continental/Michelin tires as she deserved in the first place.. in approx 3 months or 20k more miles
Knowing these issues, I’m spending approx $4k on ensuring this car is kept maintained properly with the intention of making it last beyond 200k miles. I’ve completed everything except fluids+belt changes which again I’m doing in less than 1k miles.
I have a robust maintenance schedule built already but Would love opinions on what I’m doing and advice/experiences with their Giulia. I Never owned a car where I’ve looked back at it so many times when walking away. I intentionally lock it when I’m walking away to see it shut down. Fucking glorious. Thanks for reading.
