2b2t vs 6b6t, which is more anarchy? - A very Deep Dive.

TL;DR at the end.

In my recent video I removed a section comparing 2b2t to 6b6t, a server that lots of people are saying is “more anarchy” now, as it ended up being too long and disrupting the larp. I’ll summarise the script here though as a lot of these things aren’t being spoken about.

This isn’t about which server is “better”. That depends on what you want to play as they are in reality very, very different.

The argument of 6b now being “more anarchy” is based around 2b adding new rules and moderation, and 6b not doing that. Whether they intentionally didn’t do this or didn’t act in time before being blacklisted and are now pretending it was intentional for clout we’ll never know.

If having the option to build pinwheels and add slurs to chat is your definition of anarchy then I guess 6b wins.

They also state “no queue” as a massive selling point. Yes 2b has a queue and this is how they monetise the server. A large server has costs and these need to be covered somehow. On most other servers, this will be through a shop with things like ranks, e.g. on Hypixel: https://store.hypixel.net/

6b also has a store and has ranks: https://www.6b6t.org/en/shop

Most give cosmetic rewards. You do gain some in-game advantage though by getting more “homes” and being able to create “hotspots”.

6b has a bunch of commands similar to 2b, but there are 3 specific ones to highlight

https://www.6b6t.org/en/commands

(note I have only spent an hour on the server and never used these commands, so I am basing this on info from the website).

/home - teleport to a home you have set. The highest rank in the shop can have 100 homes on the server (for the bargain price of €159.99, roughly 8 months of 2b prio). Homes look permanent and if so, this makes things much easier as you never need the hassle of having alts, creating pearl chambers or risk having them fail or loaded. You can instantly teleport all over the map permanently once you set your homes, risk free.

/hotspot - a public TP spot that anyone can use. This again makes the server much easier as all you need is one person to arrive at a location and they can teleport everyone there, either using this or…

/tpa - TP to any player on the server. Easily invite your friends to your base risk free.

It all makes things very easy and safe, not what anarchy is supposed to be.

The final major difference I want to discuss is direct admin involvement. 2b admin has traditionally gotten involved for the bare (very, very bare) minimum, either to improve server performance by patching certain hacks or exploits or trying to keep some economic balance by removing easy dupes. Yes, more recently they have gotten more involved by using world edit around spawn. However, in reality these were small cosmetic changes and spawn as is whole is as it was.

99.9% of 2b’s unique map and economy is a direct result of the players themselves finding exploits and dupes, and we are still largely left to try and find these things.

To stimulate more people buying ranks, 6b admins actively promise public “dupe events”, where “a powerful dupe will be enabled on 6b6t for 72 hours. You will be able to duplicate as many items as you want, fill your shulkers, create huge stashes and collect enough loot to last for months or even years.” It looks like these happen at least twice a year.

Finding dupes and dupe stashes are, to me, a massive part of what makes a server anarchy. The joy of finding a large dupe stash, especially when there hasn’t been a known dupe for l long time, is like striking gold IRL. Public dupes ruin all of this and having them so frequently will just make the map permanently flooded with items. This also takes away the experience for new players: on 2b most still have to grind items in the vanilla way to begin with which is a massive challenge. On 6b the goal will probably be walk around spawn until you find items.

So to conclude, which server is more anarchy? There is no argument as only one is an anarchy server.

2b2t is the most anarchy by default  as 2b was and is still an anarchy server. As I said in the video, I know its the principle of it, but in reality the rules and moderation have little impact on the map, gameplay or players, all the things that make an anarchy server what it is.

6b is an anarchy-themed SMP server. It’s too easy, too manipulated, and too tame (apart from pinwheels and slurs ofc) to be an anarchy server.

Gemini generated TLDR:

  • 6b6t claims to be more anarchy simply because it lacks a queue and chat moderation.
  • However, 6b6t sells shop ranks granting teleport commands, making gameplay safe and easy.
  • 6b6t admins artificially manipulate the economy with official "dupe events," unlike 2b2t's player-driven exploit economy.
  • Conclusion: 2b2t remains a genuine anarchy server, while 6b6t is merely an "anarchy-themed SMP."

Following a 2016 players journey

Really enjoyed this. This is the type of thing that makes 2b so special imo.
