Probably a stupid question here. Forgive me if I'm being an idiot.

I enjoy this game but don't like the "play as the quarterback, running back, etc." side of it. I enjoy the playbook building, recruiting, training, etc.

I have in the past simply set the games to AI vs. AI and watched my games (I don't want to sim them; I like each game to feel momentous). Is there a way to be an actual COACH on the sidelines (call plays, etc.) without needing to simulate actually being a player on the field? Is there some feature(s) that I'm missing?
