


Shakepay closed my account out of nowhere
Hey everyone,
I got a support response from Shakepay today saying my account is being permanently closed.
The first time I reached out to them because I saw my card got temporarily suspended, so I opened a case to try to see what was going on, and then after a few days they told my account was permanently closed.
I’m a Canadian citizen. I’ve been using Shakepay because the 0% fees are honestly unmatched, especially when you're dealing with cross-border stuff. I am on vacation in Greece until end of June and I was looking forward to using the advantages. Every single thing I did on the app was my own decision, my own funds, my own trades. I wasn't approached by anyone, I wasn't part of some scam, and I wasn't being told to use Shakepay by some sketchy "employer." I work, I earn, I made my own choices.
I was also genuinely excited for the Shakepay card. Like, I was actually waiting for that. So this came completely out of left field. I even grinded for a top 500 spot on it.
The response basically said their security team made a decision based on "confidential criteria" and there's no appeal. I get that companies have risk protocols, but getting lumped into some fraud profile when you've done nothing wrong just sucks. I provided my ID, I'm verified, I'm a real person using the app for real reasons.
I'm posting here in the hopes that someone from the Shakepay team might see this and take a second look at my account. I'm happy to provide whatever info or verification they need. I'm not trying to cause drama — I just genuinely liked the platform and want to keep using it.
If anyone else has been through this and got it resolved, I'd appreciate any advice.
