Didnt expect a jumpscare in this game.
Sui would be more terrifying but I am not able to cycle the model to her until the model in this scene disappears.

It has been just about a month since the game was released, and quite often I see people discussing how bad the gem economy is. I did some calculation, and this is what I found.
I will only focus on recurring gem sources, so I am excluding one-time gems like apologems, achievements, and the game's milestone rewards.
In short, for now, as an F2P player, you will get around 7,280 gems per month.
This assumes you reach at least silver ranking in each event, which is doable if you don't waste your replenished live boosts and have a unit strong enough to get an S score in every song. That should be achievable once you have five Level 80 SSRs and a decent holomem board.
Gems breakdown:
Events (3 per month):
Point Rally (1,200 gems):
Daily Missions (9 days) - Clear 1 song and use 10 boosts per day: 180 gems
Free Missions - Clear event songs 10 times, play 50 lives, get 1 million event points: 320 gems
Silver ranking reward: 700 gems
Score Challenge (1,050 gems):
Daily Missions (9 days) - Clear 1 song and use 10 boosts per day: 180 gems
Free Missions - Clear event songs 10 times, play 50 lives, get 500k event points, get 1 S score in any event song: 470 gems
Silver ranking reward: 400 gems
Spotlight (2,130 gems):
Daily Missions (11 days) - Play 1 live: 220 gems
Free Missions - Play 50 lives: 60 gems
Chapter Missions (5 chapters) - Get 200k event points: 600 gems
Silver ranking reward (5 chapters): 1,250 gems
New Songs (Assuming 16 new songs per month):
Daily login bonuses
With the recent announcement of adding 1,000 gems to the mission pass, the total free gems currently sit at an average of 7,280 gems per month.
This means you get enough for a pity roughly every 7 months.
For now, it seems they intend to release 12 new SSRs per month. This means a specific holomem will return on a banner every 4.5 months on average. Consequently, for an F2P player, even if you only have one oshi holomem, you might need to prepare to skip her banner every other time she appears. Of course, people with multiple oshis are completely out of luck.
Meanwhile, if you are a minnow and plan to buy the Premium Mission Pass each month, it gives you an extra 6,600 gems, bringing your total to 13,880 gems per month, which is a pity roughly every 3.6 months. That should be enough to guarantee you get your oshi whenever they appear on a banner, assuming you are disciplined enough not to pull on other banners.
Additionally, purchasing the monthly Holo Passport not only gives you another 360 gems, but it should also make it much easier to get the gold ranking for each event since it doubles your event points. That is another 1,150 gems, bringing your total to 15,190 gems per month.
P.S.
Math is hard, so please do correct me if I made any mistakes. Also, I've never played another gacha game before, so I'm not entirely sure if this gem economy is considered bad or not.
It feels alright for me as a Watamate minnow, though I do think we should be able to pull on some other banners too, rather than having to wait roughly every 5 months just for the Watame banner. I really hope they improve the gem economy moving forward. I am enjoying the game very much, and it would be sad if it were to shut down in a year due to dissatisfied players.
Edit:
