What are fons for?

I still have a lot to do in game for a full completion, but I finished main and side quests, and got to level 47 in my phone.

I see there's quite a lot of fons that you get in a week, somewhere around 2mil a week average. I personally spend a lot of mine on a Porsche event, and now looking at it in game thinking, is there any other place where I would want to spend them?

I have all houses for a buff, and buy things from hunter shop if I need them, but that's all meaningful things I could find. Is there something I'm missing?

Have I missed something?

After playing some other early access survival game my friend recomended me to try Enshrouded. I heard about the game years before but didn't have time, so decided to give it a go.

After playing for couple hours and taking my time with it, I finally got blacksmith and unlocked armor that uses materials from fog. One of them is mycelium and I spend another two hours running around my base in any fog I could find and cleaning them out, only to give up and google it. So I guess I should have used pickaxe on mushrooms growing in the ground?

I don't get it, how am I supposed to know what I had to do? There's a ton of other mushrooms around, and I didn't found any tip or suggestion to go and try dig it up from the ground. Have I missed something? Or maybe didn't get to the point of game giving me that information?

Any tips to make encounter more engaging?

I'm looking more for a mechanic side of things, because how rules work by the books looks too easy for what I need.

My campaign is set in a world plagued by heat seeking zombies and other undead creatures. They have some sort of a cold powers, and the way they observe surrounding is through heat vision.

As for encounter, my party needs to go explore abandoned village, which is fully covered in fog. Important part is that fog hides all of the damned souls that roam around the village. My idea for the encounter itself is that this souls too weak to go for big warm players, but they easily consume heat from you breathing out, which empowers them and gonna make them really hard and dangerous to deal with. So players would be advised beforehand, that in fog their vision is impared, like 30 feet top, and as soon as they see a soul they have to hold their breath, or souls gonna attack them.

Big problem is that how rules go, players can have several minutes of holding breath when they just stand still. So if they chose to evade souls, all they need to do is say that they look out around them and if they see through fog approaching soul they just hold breath until it gone. I was thinking getting them make a roll, but it's either gonna be one roll for the whole encounter, or literally every time the soul is gonna approach them I'm gonna force players to make a roll which is not really that fun, to roll every couple feet.

Is there anything you can suggest on how to make this encounter more interesting? To clarify, players will need to make some checks to done what they came there to do, and maybe spend some time gathering resources or other stuff. It's just that most important part of this encounter is how dangerous is to navigate here as they search through whole village, and I'm afraid to not being able to deliver that proper through game itself.
