I am actually rewatching Against The Current 😭 while waiting for the new episodes.
I wish I had waited to binge watch it. What are you watching or rewatching?
I know, I know. They’re professionals. They’re paid to kiss on camera, cry over the person they’re supposed to love and then forget about it all when filming wraps.
But just look at Bao Shangen in this video. She looks like she actually lost a part of herself. Even after the cameras stop rolling, she’s still an emotional wreck.
It blows my mind. How do actors not fall in love????? Or if not love, how do they even switch those feelings off and walk away from the character?
I know I know they all have lives outside of filming, and I honestly hope they have someone in real life who makes them feel loved enough to evoke emotions like this.
But me? I couldn’t do it. I’d absolutely get emotionally attached.

Is it just me or do others also want their dramas to have no AI?
Just started the drama and I'm flabbergasted. Why use AI to make intro? Is it just me who wants to watch real people in dramas through and through instead of AI? Like was there a controversy or a reason that they had to use AI?
Every recent xianxia feels like it pulls the same bait n switch.
Episode 1has immortal clans, ancient prophecies, six realms, gods at war. Episode 6 to the end has two attractive people making prolonged eye contact while the fate of the universe patiently waits.
I miss xianxia where the lore actually existed. Give me scheming sects, power struggles, mythology, a world that exists beyond the main couple.
I watched Nezha and it reminded me how epic this genre can be. Love in the Clouds just made me want that feeling back.
Am I expecting too much, or has xianxia become romance with a fantasy glaze on top?
Those who are going to attack me for mentioning Love In The Clouds, do name one 2024 - 2026 xianxia that you think is an epic.
I stan Wang Churan very proudly and naturally I follow her dramas. I have to say that after How Dare You, Love Has Fireworks has grown on me!

The chemistry between Wang Churan and Tan Jianci is natural and ROFL level funny. I just watched the latest episode and then saw this video comparing both dramas of WCR. The tone, the story and the acting is chef's kiss 💋 I hated Sang Yan from The First Frost for being a doormat lover and I am loving Li Yifei for giving green forest lover boy without being a walk all over me sobbing sod. Qian Fei is a strong woman archetype I wish more cdrama women had. I am in the minority for loving the drama. I know!
So when I was rewatching Blossoms,I wanted more episodes and then I watched Dazzling but before I dropped it I wondered why it didn't have fewer episodes and showed less suffering 🤨

In my opinion, modern Cdramas would be far more popular than kdramas if they were not 36 to 40 episodes long.
What exactly made the drama land the way it did?
The cast was an obvious draw. Zhang Linghe’s role gave him more to work with than the usual stoic male lead template. Tian Xiwei felt real carrying a cleaver and a sword. The girl nailed it 💪🏻!
The acting from the supporting cast filled in the gaps. Yan Yikuan as Chancellor Wei, Deng Kai as Qi Min, and Kong Xueer as Yu Qianqian did a splendid job. Those were my standout favorites but the overall cast was really good.
The plot was a fake marriage story but it coasted on the premise. It moved from domestic comedy to battlefield separation but lost track of the political plot. The transmigration part seemed totally unnecessary to me. Am I the only one? I
The cinematography is where I think the director’s magic is the most visible. Zeng Qing Jie directed Blossom before this, and the same attention to lighting and framing is there. Deep shadows, warm interiors, the cross section tracking shot with the children. It looked expensive and pretty like a painting.
When I try to explain why the drama worked, I end up describing all of them at once but keep complaining internally about the plot.
