I made a free, open-source overlay for Last Epoch: campaign route, quest rewards, and your build's trees next to the game's own panels

Hi all! I've been working on a small companion app for Last Epoch, and I think it's ready for more people than just my friends. It's free, open source, and Windows only.

What it does (Pictures below)

  • Your build, beside the game. Paste a Maxroll build guide or planner link. When you press P or S, the build's passive or skill tree opens next to the game's own panel, follows the tab or skill you open, and shows which nodes to take next, in order.
  • Campaign guide that follows you. It reads the game's log file, so when you enter a zone, the box shows what to do there without you clicking anything. You can pick the full campaign, a shorter leveling route, or routes that skip chapters through dungeons.
  • Quest rewards. It tracks the 15 passive points and 8 idol slots from quests, shows which side quests are worth doing and which you can skip, and keeps the ones you walked past on the list. Open the in-game map and it reads the real counters from the corner.
  • Leveling guides stay in sync. Guides with leveling stages switch stage with your level. Build guides with several versions (Starter, Endgame, Aspirational, etc.) let you pick the one you're following.
  • Planner window. A TL;DR of the build: which mastery and when, which trees get points, what to specialize, gear and idol affixes to look for, where the build's uniques drop, ready-made stash search strings, and a loot filter generated from your build.
  • Item check. Hover an item, press a hotkey, and it tells you which of your build's affixes are on it.
  • Smaller things. Boss notes for campaign and Monolith bosses, a death journal, play time and chapter splits, zone maps you capture yourself, and a Weaver tree tab with Maxroll's Weaver strategies.

Every part can be switched off, and the box can either show only on mouse hover or stay hidden until you need it.

What it does not do

It's a normal Windows window that sits on top of the game. It reads the game's Player.log file, the game's language setting, and what's on your screen using Windows' built-in text recognition.

It does not read or change the game's memory, inject anything, modify game files, or press keys or click for you. It only shows you information.

The one thing it writes is a loot filter, and only into the game's own filter folder when you ask it to.

What it sends

  • It checks GitHub for updates. Nothing installs without you clicking.
  • It fetches data from Maxroll when you import a build.
  • "Report a bug" sends a report containing logs, settings, and an optional screenshot only when you press Send. Account and character names are removed.
  • It asks once whether it may send your country code and app version so I can see where it's being used. Nothing is sent if you say no.

Requirements

  • Windows 10/11.
  • The game must run in Borderless Windowed mode, since nothing can draw over exclusive fullscreen.
  • The build tree and item check read English text, so those features require the game to be in English. Settings → Following the game → Check will tell you if anything is missing. The campaign guide works in any language.
  • The exe isn't code-signed, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" the first time. Choose More info → Run anyway. The full source is on GitHub if you'd rather build it yourself.

Unzip it somewhere and run LastEpochHelper.exe. The menu (☰) has a two-minute tour.

It's been tested on a handful of machines and against a few hundred real Maxroll planners, but screens, resolutions, and HDR setups vary a lot, so I'd love to hear how it works for you.

☰ → Report a bug is the quickest way to send me what went wrong.

Feedback and ideas are very welcome!

The skill overlay - follows your clicks around for a more smooth experience

The overlay box - can be changed into several different views, including what is shown in it.

The passive overlay - same features as the skill overlay, more or less
