Deciding on staying in the city for the fourth this year. Any good recommendations for things to do/where to view fireworks?

Hi everyone,
I live in the city however I am a teacher in a school on Long Island. I have my car and drive to and from work every day. Parking just happens to work out as I live across the street from a school so when I am leaving, teachers for the school are coming in; When I get back to the city, the teachers are leaving. There are signs up that say "School personnel only on school days 7 AM to 4 PM." Next year. I am getting moved to a different school with a little bit of a later start time so I will go from leaving at 6:45 AM to around 7:20 AM. I am wondering if anybody knows how strict they are with no parking at 7 AM? I really rely on that timing with the teachers to get a spot when they come in and when they're done. I'm wondering if I will surely get a ticket if I leave my car there for 20 minutes after seven? Looking for any and all input and thank you so much.
