Guyana's Newest Citizens: 89 Pregnant Heifers
Anyone have any thoughts on what this looks like for the future of Guyana? I've come across a few comments stating opposing views encouraging Guyana to reconsider this level of expansion as it may eventually lead to increased animal cruelty to meet production targets, decreased quality of food as this may set the trend for faster, packaged food on citizen's plates, etc.
In my opinion, this is a great start, and what reason could there be to discourage the expansion of Guyana's dairy industry? Guyana has great potential to sustain this. Guyana spends millions in USD per year importing milk, believe it or not. Guyana is expanding - tourism and foreign investment are increasing, we live in a time of quick-and-fast, and if the supply isn't able to meet the increased demand then we will get left behind.
But, I guess, we will be able to say goodbye to the actual organic food we grew up with in about 10 years' time 😢
