Knee brace after hinge brace

Hi there. 23F, 14 days post op of ACL reconstruction and complete meniscus repair (buckethandle). In a few weeks I’ll transition out of the breg T scope premium bulky hinge brace I have to a hinged knee sleeve.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Also, based in Canada would be best!

Challengers ACL tear scene

Shivers down my spine in the close up scene of tashi tearing her ACL in the movie Challengers.

I DID NOT like that. Literally had to take a second and pause the movie to breathe. Jump scare.

Should I be concerned?

This is my foot when I go to use the bathroom (2 different occurrences, but happens every time). My bathroom is right outside my door. The whole process is around 10 minutes I’d say. I crutch to the bathroom, sit on the toilet, stand up wash my hands, and crutch back. I am touch touching on the ground about 10-15 lbs.

Today I did 💩 and brushed my teeth and by the end I was having pins and needles. Mom says it’s just blood circulating, what do you guys say?

Note that after a few minutes of elevation and rest it goes back to normal. But this swelling starts almost immediately of me getting up.

Will I be able to move crazy again?

I’m 23. 7 years ago I tore my medial meniscus for the first time. Physio followed, and I tore/sprained it 3 or 4 more times over the span of 4 years. No MRI was ever done, and I was always told it was my meniscus and to go back to physio. I was active (weight lifting, hiking, Pilates), but I never got back into the sports I used to play like basketball.

I then got a patella stabilizing brace to help with my dislocations that happened frequently and was able to start playing badminton and volleyball (beginner league).

I am 11 days post op of ACL reconstruction and medial meniscus repair (buckethandle). After this, will I be able to do EVERYTHING I could 7 years ago? Can I pivot without worrying my knee will pop out? Can I jump down from a box? Could I go cliff jumping? Could I play basketball? Could I play intense basketball (women’s league)? Could I get in the car at a specific angle and my knee not pop out??

I see all these videos of people post op of this surgery and they’re jumping and running and pivoting and BACKFLIPS and I have avoided all of that for the past 7 years, not just right now. Will I be able to do all those things the people do in the future again?

Do I have to sleep with my leg elevated?

10 days post op from ACL reconstruction with medial meniscus repair (bucket handle) and hamstring graft, feeling a lot better. I wear the Breg t scope brace. I was wondering if I have to keep my leg elevated while I sleep? It’s so uncomfortable. I took a nap today without it elevated and slept so much better

7 days post op- can I book PT without surgeon follow up?

Hi, I am 7 days post op of ACL recunstruction and meniscus repair (buckethandle). Last time i saw my PT before my surgery I asked when i should book next and she said after the surgeon follow up appointment. My surgeon follow up appointment is 16 days after my surgery date.

My surgeon sent me home with a home exercise program where I have been able to successfully complete 2/8 exercises. Some i havent attempted, some I have tried and had some bad pain with. All quad exercises I was able to do at the beginning but now having a harder time activating my quad.

I want to meet with my PT, show her my exercises and just have some help. Do you think I should book with her or wait for my surgeon follow up and keep trying the exercises on my own?

Also, idk if the elevation pillow im using is allowing me to straighten enough, so i bought another. but i cant tell if the new one is causing too much strain on the back of me knee? Is it weird if i brought the pillows to the appointment....

I want to go see her but idk if im doing too much. welp, help. advice?

4 days post op - is my leg straight enough??

4th day post op of ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair (buckethandle) with hamstring graft. It was a PAINFUL first 3 days. I could barely do ankle pumps. Today I was able to do about half of my exercises but I’m so worried my leg isn’t straight enough.

I am wearing a hinge brace locked at 0 degrees, and I’m using an elevation pillow. Leg Elevation Pillow for After... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0FXWM1PVL?ref=ppx\_pop\_mob\_ap\_share

I do the exercise where I put a pillow under my heel only and could hold it for max 2 mins. Also when I stand, I straighten my leg as much as I can, but I can’t stand up straight. My legs don’t feel like they’re the same length.

When I move my pillow only under my calf, CRAZY PAIN. Pain in the back of my knee feels like I’m pushing down, and pain in the front of my knee like it’s so swollen and being crushed.

I can’t bare moving the pillow under only calf, and the way the pillow is it goes right under my bum and it is slanted a little then straight line. The straight part starts atleast 4 inches before my knee.

I have my first surgeon appointment check up 16 days after my operation. My PT said to book my first session with her after my surgeon checkup, but given how far my surgeon checkup is should I just go to my PT?

Or should I not worry so much? I’m in pain and had a really rough surgery and first few days. Had to go back to the hospital on day 3 and finally was able to chill today. I’ll be regular with PT after my first session in a couple weeks, if it isn’t straight enough in the first 2 weeks can I fix it after??

Operation - Worse pain ever

Hi there,

Day 4 post op ACL reconstruction and Meniscus repair (buckethandle). I am 23F, I had my surgery and as soon as I woke up the nerve blocker didn’t touch me. I woke up in agonizing pain, shaking insanely from the anesthetic and blurry vision unable to calm down. They gave me 4 doses of pain killer through my IV until I finally calmed down.

Got home hours later, and didn’t sleep that night. I thought that was the worst of it… until the following evening. About 30 hours post op, my pain meds they prescribed stopped working completely. 6 hours of pain at a level 8-9/10 before it reached 10/10 and I called 911. I was shaking, hyperventilating, crying, blurry vision, pounding head, and I thought I was going to faint. Every inch I moved my leg felt like someone was stabbing me.

The paramedics came and my blood pressure was very low, they couldn’t find an IV and had to hold me down to help with the shaking. They had to warm me up because I was cold and give me morphine. We went to the hospital and my wounds were perfect, no infection. It was a pain med thing.

They prescribed me new ones and I went home 5 terrible hours later. 48 hours, no sleep, pain in every move, I was not expecting this from this surgery.

I like to say I have a high pain tolerance. Years of period cramps, Brazillian waxes, laser sessions, many partially torn AcL and meniscus injuries, an IUD, I thought I would have some advantage. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced true pain until now.

Goodluck.

Watch post injury

I love his all his videos but in this one he hurts his knee and it made me feel so good and happy internally like I can do things! (Been injured for 4 weeks and still on a crutch, surgery next week followed by months of more rest)
