15yo homebrew enthusiast here! Just finished two RX antennas in my workshop
What’s up everyone!
Started my antenna building journey at 15! Just finished putting these together in my workshop for a passive RX-only monitoring setup.
1. 6m (50 MHz) Rigid Dipole (Background)
Made from aluminum tubing and a PVC T-fitting. Hoping to catch some Magic Band action on this one!
2. Multi-band HF Telescopic Whip (Foreground)
Full-size setup for 10m, 12m, and 20m. I just adjust the physical length to tune it. Built with a PVC
base and a side-mounted feedline.
Just budget materials, PVC, aluminum, and a whole lot of electrical tape
Any advice for a beginner to squeeze more performance out of the HF whip?
Wait, my bad guys! 😭 I completely forgot that the 30 turns of blue wire wrapped at the base IS actually a loading coil! Still a long way to learn, 73!
I’m 15 and just built a 255 MHz SATCOM turnstile antenna using a rusty 90cm dish and a cheap KSUN HT!
Hope you guys are doing well!
Just built another DIY turnstile antenna from scrap items and an old 90cm satellite dish. I hooked it up to my cheap KSUN UV60D HT using a bunch of adapters.
Managed to get a clean RX at SQL 0 on 255.550 MHz listening to some SATCOM pirates!
Fun fact: This is actually my second attempt. I had to cannibalize my first build because I completely messed up the tuning! 😂
Hearing the ISS downlink on a cheap HT with a gooseneck antenna
Just pointed this little K-Sun up to the sky during the pass and it actually worked. Space stuff on budget gear is always fun.
Just wanted to share my radio setup. I'm 15 and use it inside my DIY workshop!
Hey everyone,Just wanted to show my setup inside my front warehouse / personal workshop. My family runs a ship agency, so I have access to these cool gears.

Unknown repeating Morse signal on SW around 4.5 MHz – anyone know what it might be?
Hi everyone,
I received a repeating Morse-like signal on shortwave around 4.5 MHz.
Date: February 8, 2025
Time: around 21:46 (local time / UTC+8)
Location: Indonesia
The signal sounded like repeating CW/Morse continuously.
I’m still learning about SW and RF, so I’m curious what this could be.
Could this be a beacon, utility station, or something else?
