Local 79 Union NYC

Pls excuse my ignorance guys, but I did apply yesterday for the union. I am just curious how does this work when it comes to union construction… because from my understanding you’re on a list, and get called from job to job. I assume every job has different hours and days to work, but what do you guys do in between jobs? How long are the waits in between? What are typical work shifts for sites (I’m sure they vary widely but any info like hours worked in a week usually would be appreciated as well). I also know that it’s like $42/hr after 4,000 hours… if anyone is in this union I’m just curious… are you guys capped at $42 forever afterward or are there raises over time and with gaining certification? Is there any way to move up positionally? Thank you!

Limited Access Programs

Are there any respiratory therapy programs that are not limited access? I spent about a year trying to break into IT and personally getting into the entry level is ridiculous and there’s not much opportunity where I live , I’m lucky to see 2-3 postings a week. I want to make a career pivot but respiratory therapy programs in my area seem to be limited access, which kinda makes me worried because will I run into a similar problem? I don’t want to complete my pre reqs, owe money, and I’m now stuck in limbo for another year hoping for a seat. That would kinda .. be the same problem I’m having now getting into IT

I used Messer for the A+ and while studying I felt a bunch of information swirling in my brain and it overwhelmed me HEAVILY until I took his practice exams. The explanation for why the right answers were right, and the wrong answers were wrong, are what allowed me to fully understand the concepts, making the exam easy in all honesty. He unfortunately doesn’t have those same practice exams for Net+, and I hear a lot of mentions of other people’s courses, but who specifically has practice exams that break down the concepts like messer’s A+ exams? I’m okay with studying messer’s course.. just need good practice exams to really solidify the info!
