Thar, she glows

Sorry for the repost, but here are the pictures of her dancing in the light. Inspired by La Danseuse by François Raoul Larche, signed with that name, but doesn't match the original pose. Shame, but what a beauty still.

Having said that, my Müller Frères table lamp may be less impressive, but it gives an awesome light to the room that reaches a painting near the foot of my bed. So, the Müller Frères table light won that spot, and La Danseuse will go either in my study or my living room.

Btw, I spotted an original of La Danseuse going for sale in a little more than month from now.

She's just arrived from Toulouse, France

AhhehdudbHehgedhhahbBeb... sorry, I lost all my vocabulary. She’s just arrived.

It's a reproduction of a lamp by Raoul Larche made for the Paris Universal Fair, can't remember which one, but it was in the late 1800s. It represents a famous American dancer called Loïe Fuller.

Something insane just happened

A reproduction of Peter Behrens' Flying Lady just sold for £100 plus auctioneers' fees and shipping. Only one bidder... me. It's repaired, but still. Come on! New reproductions sell on Etsy for over 30 times that! The original was from 1902. I can't wait to be the proud owner of one of them in a few weeks.

Musée Carnavalet, Paris

I wanted to go to Musée Carnavalet for so long, and I was not disappointed. Only a small fraction of the museum is dedicated to Art Nouveau, but what a small fraction! These are part of the permanent free exhibition. It's free!

We have the original Fouquet jewellery shop, designed by Alfons Mucha, no less. And one of the original Café de Paris rooms, designed by Henri Sauvage when he was still trying to make a name for himself.

Finally, we have a stained glass panel showing Sarah Bernhardt, famously immortalised by Mucha on his lithographs. That one was a different show. I don't know who did it. I doubt Mucha did stained glass but I could be wrong.

Info about lighting sconces

Hi everybody,

Does anybody know about these sconces (wall lamps)? I tired Google Lens, and it claims it's by Swedish brand Aneta. I contacted them, and they are not sure. Apparently, several brands had the same model. I'm in the UK, but someone on Etsy is selling a few from Italy (at exorbitant prices, I may add). There are 2 and 3 lampshades variants.

Also, I will need replacement lampshades. The diameter at the fixture point is 4 cm. They are 14 cm tall. I found some on eBay, but do you know a more stable supply source for these?

Thanks,

Alban

Past Times Mucha plaquea

I have now received the second plaque. To the left, Le Lierre (Ivy) and Le Laurier (Laurel) to the right.

Post used to sell at the UK shop chain Past Times. I am finding these on eBay or Vinted. They are made of resin and 10 inches across.

The dancer is Loïe Fuller. She used to make these whirlwinds of silk with electric lights hidden in the floor aiming at her when electricity was still very new.

Raoul Larche created table lamps representing her, which he sold at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1889. How many exist is unknown, but they sell for eye-watering sums.

A few weeks ago, one popped up on eBay. I received a crazy low offer, negotiated a little lower, and won. Calm down, mine is only a reproduction. I could not find any information based on the hallmarks. The.seller agreed it's a reproduction, allegedly from the 1950s. I just have to proceed to send the payment now.

Here's one of two resin tiles that the Past Times shops in the UK used to sell. It's 10 inches across, and that one is Laurel from 1901. There's also Ivy, which I don't have yet, also from 1901. I found mine on eBay.

Past Times was a shops chain in the UK operating between 1986 and 2012. They produced many Alfons Mucha reproductions such as mirrors, I showed two yesterday.

I have found two 4-sets, one of the Four Seasons and one of Times of the Day, which you can see here. Note that Mucha did three different sets of the Four Seasons. This one is a bit sun bleached, so I'll keep an eye on more. I don't know which other 4-sets Past Times sold, perhaps The Arts, The Precious Stones, The Stars, The Flowers. Who knows?

The Four Seasons set came from eBay, and the Times of the Day set came from Vinted.
