Pool Closing

So it’s that time of the year to close the pool and when I got ready to vacuum out the bottom I noticed this little guy. For the past two seasons, we have had a baby snapping turtle like this one in the pool the first or second week we open it. This year we had another one at the end of the season. We have a creek right behind our house but the bank is about an 8 foot drop and about 40 feet from the pool. I’m wondering why these turtles make their way up to the pool every year and if there’s anything we can do to keep them from falling in as I would hate for one of them to die in the skimmer basket.

Pool Help

The person that normally opens our pool decided to wait until this week to tell us he will no longer be doing pool care. With it being so close to summer all the pool companies around me are booked until late June for opening. Decided I would try to open it myself. I removed all the plugs and reattached all the pipe fittings, but when I fill the pump to prime it and kick it on, I’m getting no water from the intake pipes but there is still water in the bottom of the pump. I let the hose run in the pump for a solid 10 minutes and still no luck getting water to pull from the intake pipes. Any help would be great
