Puck doesn’t knock out cleanly with stock ES1 basket
I’ve been experimenting with dose size with the stock basket and happy with 1:2 ratio using 18, 19, and 20g doses. None of these dose sizes help with puck removal though.
My previous machine was a Breville Bambino. I used an 18g IMS basket that I believe aided is clean puck removal—almost like a non-stick surface (though there was no visible coating).
Has anyone found that pucks knock out more cleanly with a 3rd party basket? I hesitate to order one simply because I’m very happy with the espresso I’ve been making for the past 2 1/2 weeks of ownership.
I don’t believe that this issue is the related to the sloppy/wet puck discussions. My Bambino didn’t have a 3 way solenoid valve, so I got in the habit of waiting until I was done with my drink before knocking the puck out. Waiting allowed the puck to drain and dry out a bit. The same wait doesn’t seem to help with the ES1.
