Chemo or No?

Update on my 83 yr old father with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Diagnosed in March 2026. Started Gim/Abrax in May with just a dose of Gim. Second round with Gim/Abrax. About two weeks after second round was suddenly hit with pneumonia/respiratory failure. Spent two weeks in hospital on IV antibiotics and oxygen. Sent home with oxygen. He is getting appetite back and mobility is good. Pain overall is not reported to be bad. Should he try to continue chemo?

Advice

First time poster here. Father (83) has 3 cm x 1.5cm mass on tail of pancreas with lesions on liver and nodules in lung. Pain started in Jan 25. Left side of torso. Cat scan in March. Endoscopic biopsy in April. Confirmed cancer in mass. Port installed a week ago. Palliative chemo starts next week.

Over the last three days he has experienced nausea and stomach pain.

Back and left side torso pain persists. 9-19 tumor marker last test was 16,000. Up from 6,000 in March.

He takes tylenol for the torso and back pain and has stronger pain meds on hand if needed. He is very reluctant to take anything other than tylenol so far. He has nausea meds from oncologist.

He is keeping moving and trying to be active (yard work, errands, etc) but you can see he is not feeling well.

Any advice for navigating next steps with my father?
