Is there anyone else who has students that have written plans that say they should be 1:1, but your school isn’t providing 1:1 and you work with multiple students at once? How is this then possible to meet their plans and goals when it feels like you are unable to provide the help your students NEED?
This was my first year working as a paraprofessional, however I also started late in the school because I started around mid March or so, but here were some things I was really proud of:
My first main kiddo I was working with started verbally asking me to play specific songs, originally it just started with the song “Shiny” but then it progressed to asking for “Let it grow” (which, of course included both versions😅) and “How bad can I be”. Later on, they also started to sing the songs too a lot more, which made me so happy!
Towards the end of the year, one of my kids started having a new behavior with just eloping and running out of the room to go to the bathroom without asking or giving any notice, but luckily at least towards the end of the year they did improve on verbally saying “bathroom” and “potty” BEFORE running out to the bathroom.
2a) They also got better at washing their hands in the restroom too… before we liked to turn the faucet on high and put our hands right underneath to make it spray everywhere 😅
