Teele Square Fire

Hello all! I am one of the people affected by the Teele Square fire, and I thought it would be helpful (if allowed) to have a thread for those of us that have been affected to share resources and information, and for those who have resources to share and post about them.

At the moment, the city has neither released the building for the recovery of items nor contacted us about the fund for displaced residents. We have not been allowed back into the building (at least on the more damaged half). This crisis is far from over for most of us.

Liars @Teele Square

The new restaurant opened in Teele last night, and it's really great! Similar vibe as Spoke, but more room and a lot of unusual spirits. Highly recommend, even just for the griddled corn muffin/blueberry ice cream desert and a drink.

As a sidenote, I never thought I'd live in a time when Teele was actually...cool? We have two good coffee shops, The Hollows, and now Liars. All of these are local businesses, not restaurant groups. Places that people might come to Teele to visit from elsewhere! Wild times.

England v. Croatia

Any England fans going somewhere to watch tomorrow's game? I know there are some watch parties in Boston, but thought I'd see what's going on closer to home!

Phantom Busses

Why can't we get rid of phantom busses? I use the MBTA-Go app and was waiting for an 87 on Friday that just...never came. It showed 13 minutes, then 12, then 11, then 13 again...and just kept repeating this pattern of time estimates over and over. I ended up getting a ride because the next bus wasn't coming for 45 minutes! Frequency of service aside, can we at least make the app tell us when the ACTUAL next bus will be?

Mindflayers are AI

I was thinking about mindflayers and realized that AI does a lot of the things that mindflayers do. Consider: mindflayers diminish the intellect of creatures, and transforming into one destroys the soul. In the latter case, if we think of the soul (in D&D) as part of what makes humanoids what they are, one that differentiates them from aberrations like mindflayers, then this makes sense. In the former case, we're seeing studies that suggest increased use of AI can cripple cognitive function over time. Mindflayers also famously enthrall creatures, and we could liken this to AI psychosis. Even the Grand Design parallels techbro ideas about global expansion and domination.

Anyway, just thought I'd put my idle thoughts out there.
