SF Proponent AMA

This is an open forum post from SF Proponent, to ensure potential SF prospects, candidates, and current students in the pipeline are getting accurate and up to date information.

We can provide guidance on SF training pipeline expectations, but we won’t disclose specifics on official training events, graded material, or assessment standards in order to preserve the integrity of the training. However, any and all guidance we do provide is based on direct knowledge, anecdotal evidence, and the most recent trends.

Our office does everything from initial accessions requirements, assigning SF MOS, assigning languages / SF Groups, Force Structure, compensation, sustainment, and much more.

In conjunction with partnered offices and commands, we are focused on SF accessions, preparation, and producing the future generation of Green Berets.

Official Updated SFAS Prep Handbook

The link above contains the most current SFAS Preparation Manual published by the JFK Special Warfare Center and School (SWCS). Produced in 2024, this guide was developed by our world-class team of strength and conditioning coaches, sports psychologists, physical therapists, dietitians, and cadre to provide the most relevant and up-to-date preparation guidance available. Everyone involved with the production of this manual has up to date and intricate knowledge of SFAS.

This manual is an excellent resource for future 18X candidates preparing to ship to OSUT. Every 18X candidate receives a hard copy during OSUT at Fort Benning; however, our goal in sharing it here is to put this information in your hands sooner so you can arrive better prepared and ready to succeed from day one.

Once you arrive at Fort Bragg as an 18X candidate, your physical training will be cadre-led. The same SWCS Human Performance Team that helped develop this manual also plays a key role in designing and supporting portions of that training program. The principles outlined in this guide directly reflect the standards and methodologies used throughout the Special Forces training pipeline.

This manual is also a valuable resource for in-service Soldiers preparing to attend SFAS.

Keep in mind that any standards or goals listed in the manual represent minimum benchmarks and do not guarantee success or selection. To maximize your chances of success, you should strive to significantly exceed all published standards and goals. Likewise, if you are already in excellent physical condition, consider supplementing the prescribed workouts with additional training that challenges your current fitness level and further develops your performance.

As always, please reach out with any questions or comments.
