Does anyone know the story of how they fixed it so Angela Lansbury was able to continue on with the series after the "break" she took in season 6 due to exhaustion?

I've been watching The 101 Events that Made Twentieth Century on TV and almost every event makes me want to read an entire book (or many) on the subject. Cuban missile crisis, creating a state for Israel, Amelia Erhart's flights and disappearance, creation of the transistor, cloning Dolly the sheep, Rawandan genocide, Princess Diana's death in the car crash, on and on for 101 major events.
I'd love to cobble together a list of super readable books on 20th century world history. Narrative nonfiction, maybe? I'd even love historical fiction if the history is accurate. Just no textbook-type books please.
Please recommend any books on 20th century history that you've read and really liked. It can be on any event or series of events.
Thanks!
