By "feel the need", I mean in the context of the joke, which uses stereotypes. I can understand veganism in the joke (because they're coming from the perspective of improving environmental impact, and therefore, sharing such views only improves their goals). I can also understand the cross-fitter in the joke, because from their perspective it's an passionate hobby. They are well known stereotypes. However, I don't think being preachy as an atheist is a stereotype that works for the joke, as hence why I'm clarifying with the atheism subreddit.

My argument was no:

>Think about it, atheists literally don't believe in anything, so that doesn't really make any sense.

>Most people in the UK are atheist, I've never once met someone who brought up that they're an atheist, whereas if you're someone with a belief, then you're more likely to preach about it. It's literally why throughout history you had people traveling around the world to convert people to their religion. It's why you have Jehovah's Witnesses knocking on peoples doors. Hell the literally meaning on evangelism is the activity of persuading people to become Christians, often by traveling around and telling people about your beliefs. Something you don't get with atheism because it's merely just a label for not believing in anything.

Edit:

Seems like most people, as I imagined, mention being atheist when taking a defensive/provoked stance right? It's not an activity or a belief system to share with the world like theism. As an atheist, you're not trying to recruit more atheists.

Also, note I was actually wrong about most people being atheist in the UK, in the 2021 census 37.2% responded as atheist (22.2 million) - though this is deviating from the topic I thought it was worth clarifying for the sake of intellectual honesty.
