SonicWall Network Security Manager - Latest Update

Hello r/sonicwall community,

SonicWall shipped NSM 4.2 (SaaS and On-Premises) on June 30, 2026. Below is a quick summary of what is new in firewall management, visibility, and MSP operations.

What launched on June 30, 2026

NSM 4.2 (SaaS and On-Premises)

Top Features

•        Configuration backup promotion -- Customers not yet on a Support plan or bundled services get to experience configuration backup for 90 days at no cost. Reduces operational risk with no commitment required. Customers already on Support have this now.

•        Real-time connectivity status with 30-day history -- Firewall inventory now shows live connectivity status alongside uptime. A 30-day history is available so administrators can immediately distinguish a firewall problem from a network path problem, without guessing or escalating unnecessarily.

•        Gen 8 model migration support -- Customers mid-upgrade or replacing hardware can now move between Gen 8 models through the NSM migration app with fewer manual steps. Eliminates the risk of misconfiguration at cutover and reduces the friction that delays hardware refresh decisions.

Other Enhancements

•        Tenant-grouped firewall inventory -- MSPs and MSSPs managing multiple tenants can now navigate directly to a specific customer's firewall inventory without filtering a flat list. Reduces NOC navigation time and improves service delivery speed.

•        Custom branding for PDF reports -- NSM PDF reports now support MSP and MSSP branding, including About Us and Contact Us sections. Partners can deliver white-label reports under their own name without post-processing the output.

Happy to answer questions on configuration backup activation, Gen 8 migration planning, or NSM tenant setup.

SonicWall Network Security - May 2026 Updates

Hello r/sonicwall community,

SonicWall is shipping SonicOS 7.3.3 and NSM 4.1 on May 26, 2026. Below is a quick summary of what is new across firmware and management.

What launches May 26, 2026

SonicOS 7.3.3 for Gen 7 hardware

•        Content Filtering: four new categories -- Generative AI, Self-Harm, DNS-over-HTTPS, and Low-THC Cannabis Products. Each is independently policy-controlled per-zone or per-user. No custom URL lists required.

•        Credential Auditor enabled by default -- The firewall checks credentials against known compromised databases at first boot and alerts the administrator automatically. No manual setup required.

•        DTLS for SSL-VPN -- SSL-VPN now negotiates DTLS automatically when the client supports it. TLS fallback is maintained. Zero configuration required. Addresses VPN call quality and video latency complaints.

•        Geo-IP: Kosovo and South Sudan added -- Both countries are now individually addressable in Geo-IP policies.

•        Same-subnet WAN support -- W0-WAN and X1 WAN can now be configured in the same IP subnet, including SD-WAN failover. Removes a long-standing deployment blocker for specific ISP handoff configurations.

•        MAC-IP Anti-Spoofing in Native Bridge -- Layer 2 deployments now enforce MAC-to-IP bindings inline, closing an ARP and IP spoofing gap that previously required a routed topology.

•        NetExtender 10.3.4 embedded -- Users receive the updated client automatically on next login via the SSL-VPN portal. No separate distribution required.

•        GUI switch diagnostics -- Available on both x86 and ARM appliances. NOC staff and SEs can troubleshoot switch-layer issues remotely without CLI access.

NSM 4.1 (SaaS and On-Premises)

•        Releases simultaneously with SonicOS 7.3.3, ensuring full management coverage for every feature in this release from day one.

•        Policy deployment, compliance monitoring, and firmware management across cloud-hosted and on-premises firewalls from a single console.

•        Removes the operational gap that previously forced administrators to choose between staying current on SonicOS and staying centrally managed at scale.

Happy to answer questions on rollout planning, migration paths, or NSM 4.1 onboarding.
