Do americans really casually wear cowboy hats?
I know its probably very location dependent, but even in states like Texas are people casually wearing cowboy hats, or is that more of a TV cliché?

Hello everyone, I finally decided to start playing DnD. I have watched some DnD shows and played BG3 and got interested. I finally got the courage to search for DnD tables in my area and I found this group that are preparing a campaign and are open to new players.
The DM and the rest of the players have been very nice to me, letting me know what to expect and how to prepare for an in-person TTRPG campaign. This DM and players appear to be friends outside of the game and have had multiple campaigns amongst themselves.
The problem I'm facing is that when I was discussing what class and role I would be looking to play, the DM told me that the party needs a healer because the story he is writing really requires support. The other 3 players already had conversations with the DM about their characters and they are each playing a Fighter, a Bard and a Monk. The DM suggested I play a Cleric or a Druid, but he was more insisting on a Cleric.
I told the DM I wasn't sure I was confident enough to play a full caster on my first game because I know how complicated managing and preparing spells can be for first time players. I asked if I could play as a Rogue as a lot of people have mentioned how the class is great for begginers because its simple but also teaches a player a lot about action economy, but the DM does not think this is a good idea for the campaign. I then asked why he was looking for another healer since another player is playing a Bard that can offer support but he said this player is planning to be a Swords Bard and his character is not really going to be healing a lot.
So what should I do? Im sure theyll be helpful and understanding of me if I mess up or get confused with spells, but im just not confident in that role. I feel like I can't really push back since everyone else has been preparing for this campaign and im just the newcomer. Should I give it a try or try to find a different table? Any advice is welcome, thanks!
