I ordered my ES1 literally during the webcast release announcement. I spent extra for a colorway that I loved, and was already considering upgrading my Opus to something more fitting of a great espresso machine but then we got the news that the Opus 2 was coming “very nearly after the shipping dates of the ES1, likely in late May.” So, I waited to get a new grinder.
We all know the Opus issues that have been made more apparent as users got our ES1 shipments. But I’ve waited for an Opus 2 to match my ES1.
I’ve seen Opus 2 grinders be released, including new colorways for Sur La Table, Crate & Barrel, and Williams Sonoma. But the upgraded colors from the original ES1 release date still don’t have matching Opus 2 grinders to match.
We early adopters were the people who funded the ES1 release (and therefore likely helped fund the Opus 2 development as well). Yet, we are the last ones who might get matching grinders for our espresso machines.
These are direct questions/appeals for the Fellow folks who are always weighing in on post in this subreddit:

1. When will the Malted Chocolate/ Maple Opus 2 be available for purchase and shipment? Last word we got was late May for “some colorways” but now it is July and I struggle daily to decide whether to wait for Opus 2 or give up and buy something else. A shipping date would at least let me decide with real options.
2. What can you do in the future to avoid putting big box store orders over the people who have continued to be early backers for your projects? I feel like the early adopters should be taken care of first, and instead we are last ones to be served here.

I get that logistics and tariffs and everything happened and they might not have been planned for. But better communication on Opus 2 would go a long way.

I love that I can turn my Stagg kettle on from my bed via Bluetooth. Is there any interest in adding the same function (over WiFi) in the Fellow app for the ES1? It would be very handy to be able to wake or sleep the machine from another room in the house using the app.

I drink cortados (roughly 1:1 espresso and milk). The closest drink profile to a cortado in the “Make a Drink” options is a flat white, I think, so that is what I use. That profile calls for 4oz milk to be steamed. I have the Pirch cortado glasses from Fellow. There is always milk left over if I steam 4oz so I have been trying to pour less than 4oz to avoid the waste. I was wondering why there isn’t a cortado option in the “Make a Drink” selection. There is a cappuccino option (6oz milk) and a flat white option (4oz), but no cortado even though Fellow sells (lots of) glasses for cortados. Is this weird to anyone else? Is it maybe because 4oz is the minimum amount of milk that can be properly steamed so there is just always going to be waste with a cortado?
