frigate improvement with HailoL8

I was having a lot of issues getting a Coral TPU going in the Raspberry Pi 5 with the latest kernel so got hold of a HailoL8 to try.

Still a few issues getting a working driver going (latest Hailo driver is 4.23 but the docker image wants 4.21). I also had some error messages from the kernel with memory lock errors but found a post on the Hailo forum about modifying the source files and that fixed it)

CPU usage has dropped significantly as have inference times so it seems to be doing it's job.

Lacking any hardware H264 decoding, CPU usage is still a bit on the high side (4 cameras) but not causing any overheating. (checking out affordable, alternative GPU options)

Next issue to tackle is a "Live view is in low-bandwidth mode due to buffering or stream errors." issue. Not sure if this is a network issue or a bad config on my part

Might have to upgrade from a Raspberry Pi 5

Just et up the first of 4 cameras (Dahua) and while I'm impressed with frigate and the easy of setup/use, less impressed with the performance of the Pi. Getting a high ffmpeg usage message.

I'd really like to use the Pi as it has a 4 port nvme card on it (currently 2 x 1TB nvme installed) and I have a Coral and Hailo TPU available.

Back t the documentation and this forum to find some hardware recommendations !

New to frigate

Just set up frigate on a Raspberry Pi 5 and it was a painless experience Documentation is good.

Running 2 x 1TB nvme drives and I have a Cotal TPU (pci) I've yet to configure. What's peoples experience with the Pi for this application?

Cameras (Dahua) should arrive Thursday so getting them mounted is a job for the weekend - electrican has already run the Cat6 cables

Just need to design and print a case for the NVR

Reolink sales support +

Placed an order for a doorbell last week but managed to select a WIFI instead of POE. Sent an email an hour after noticing the error requesting a change but no response other than an email a little later notifying me my item had shipped Finally managed to get onto a sales person who got the return authorized and a the correct item shipped (Thanks Sean!)

Seems support message go to the US not the local office (Australia)

Electrican was around today to install the Cat6 cable sfor the doorbeel and other cameras so look forward to joining Big Brother soon!
