Canva resume vs actual ATS builders - does it even matter?

ok so I've been applying for like 2 months now with a resume I made on Canva (looks great imo) and barely getting any responses. someone told me it's probably getting filtered out by ATS before a human even sees it

but then I googled it and half the internet says modern ATS can parse anything, the other half says canva exports are basically unreadable to these systems?? which is it lol

I actually found a "pure ATS resume template" thing that looks decent but it's paid, and now I'm stuck. is it worth paying for something like that or should I just keep using canva?

what do you guys use for your resumes? did switching to an ATS friendly template actually change anything for you or is this whole ATS panic overblown
