MitID not scanning passport NFC
As the title says I am having issues with the NFC scanning in MitID. I just got my residence permit and CPR number on Monday and they said to wait 2 days until activating MitID. It’s been a full 48 hours and I can get through the first steps until it has to scan the NFC in my passport. I can get it to detect the NFC and to start scanning (it starts filling up a series of bubbles on the scanning page) but every time it fails to compete the scan and after two attempts to says I’ve run out of time for the session and I have to start over again.
Does anyone know if this is just an issue with timing or do I need to go back to the kommune to get them to help me?
Info: U.S passport and iPhone 16 pro max.
Never had issues scanning NFC before and it seems to detect it, it just doesn’t want to complete the scan for whatever reason.
Sorry if this is a dupe post or if this gets asked a lot. I tried searching on the sub and only found one thread that was deleted by the poster.
Edit: I also updated to the latest iOS and reinstalled the app. I have restarted my phone multiple times as well to no avail.
Edit 2: it sounds like U.S passports are simply incompatible with MitID so I now have an appointment on Monday with Citizen Service as that is the soonest available appointment. If you stumble on this thread and you’re in the same boat, save your self the headache of trying every different possible phone position and just make an appointment ASAP.
