Audi A6 etron: 10k km review
A6 etron sportback performance.
cars i preciously owned (and my reference for comparison): BMW x3, Tesla M3, Polestar 4.
My personal experience with the car has been almost flawless, to be fair. I haven’t had any of the major issues reported by others. I ordered the car in October and received it in January. Since then, I’ve been driving it daily, including a 50 km highway commute and several road trips across Western Europe.
What I hate about the car:
- The wipers are terrible. They feel and sound cheap, and I already had to replace them once in less than three months.
- The trip planner is very hit or miss. Many times it skips an obvious charging station on the motorway and instead chooses another one that requires a detour of a few kilometers. The fact that battery preconditioning only works through the trip planner makes this even more annoying.
- Wireless Apple CarPlay has failed a few times. Plugging in a cable fixes it immediately.
- The lack of a physical play/pause button is surprisingly annoying. I still can’t get over this design choice.
- The rear window is almost useless. It’s very small, and visibility becomes terrible the moment it starts raining.
- The automatic parking function has never worked properly for me. I’ve tried it four times in total, and every time I ended up taking over because the car was completely outside the parking spot. I’ll bring this up with my dealer at the next appointment. The BMW system I had before was miles better.
- A proper tire pressure monitoring system being an optional extra on an €80k+ car is honestly insane. I missed that during configuration and ended up with the basic system that doesn’t show individual tire pressures.
- Because the car has very good sound insulation, the doors sometimes require an extra push to close properly. I think the car could benefit from a better air pressure release system. If possible, I’d recommend getting the soft-close doors option.
What I like:
- First of all, I want to praise the Audi dealership in Amsterdam. It has genuinely been the best customer service experience I’ve ever had with a car dealership. Seeing how many people complain about customer service elsewhere, I feel lucky to have such great people here.
- This car is incredibly comfortable. Long-distance cruising is effortless. It’s quiet, composed, and drives extremely well. It never feels like a 2+ ton car, even without air suspension.
- Power consumption is excellent compared to my previous cars. I’m consistently below 20 kWh/100 km during winter, and last month my average was around 17 kWh/100 km thanks to warmer weather, which is insane for a car this heavy ,especially considering I mainly do highway driving.
- Definitely go for the sport seats. They’re extremely comfortable.
- The driver assistance/autopilot features are finally properly sorted. They work exactly as expected, are easy to use, and feel safe.
- The smart LED matrix headlights are, in my opinion, the best on the market. They’re fantastic for night driving.
Overall, this has been a great experience so far and easily the best car I’ve ever owned. Even after a few months, I still find excuses to drive it, and it’s a joy every single time
