Which activities would you cut from a short South Island trip?

Hey everyone,

I'm planning a trip to the South Island of New Zealand, but I have a pretty limited amount of time. If you had to cut 2 activities from the list below, which ones would you drop and why?

Here are the 5 options I'm trying to choose between:

    1. Milford Sound cruise
    1. Wanaka Roy's Peak hike
    1. Visiting Glenorchy & Arrowtown
    1. Strolling around Akaroa
    1. Mt. Cook Hooker Valley Track

Would love to hear your thoughts, especially if any of these turned out to be overhyped or not worth the detour given a tight schedule. Thanks in advance!

Any recommend to my 7-day South island plan?

Please recommend and improve my road trip travel plan.

I have about 7 full days for the South Island around December.

My parents are elderly and not very fit, so I'm not focusing on adventure activities.

For the first day, after landing at CHC, I'm thinking of driving to stay at Lake Tekapo. (Church of the good Shepherd, etc.)

Day 2-3, Stay in Queenstown (Lake pukaki, Fiordland, Milford sound)

Day 4-5, Stay at Lake Wanaka (Wishbone Falls, Diamond lake)

Day 6-7, back to Christchurch (Mt.Cook otw, Botanic garden, Riverside market)

What I'm still hesitating about is:

  1. I will miss out on driving along the coast, passing through Haast Pass and Arthur's Pass. Should I squeeze my schedule to including it?
  2. Between Queenstown and Wānaka, should I choose to stay in just one place?

Any further advices are always welcome. Thank you. Kia Ora!!

As fans, wouldn’t second place be better?

Honestly, I feel like it might actually be better if the team I’m rooting for finishes 2nd in Stage 1.

Sure, the winner gets to skip straight to playoffs, which is great and all. But if we really believe in the team’s potential, wouldn’t we want to see them play through the Swiss stage as well?

More games, more momentum, more chances to prove themselves.

What do you guys think?
