Maine coon get more assertive as they get older?

My gentle giant male MC started swatting my other cats around sometimes. He got my Chausie in the face. My Chausie is an F3 and they usually get along great. But after 2 years old my MC seems like he wants to put the other cats in their place. Which is not a bad thing because cats who are push overs will get bullied. But I was wondering if this has been your experience also? We have a big catio in the yard.

I wanted to share this because for years I had no idea what was going on with me…

For over 5 years I was dealing with chronic fatigue and hypersomnia—sometimes sleeping 12+ hours a day, no motivation, feeling disconnected, and what I thought was depression.

It never fully made sense, especially because it didn’t feel like the kind of anxiety people usually talk about.

Recently I came across something called hypoarousal, which is basically when your nervous system shuts down instead of going into fight-or-flight.

Reading about it honestly made so many things click for me. It helped me understand that what I was experiencing wasn’t just “laziness” or something being wrong with me.

I figured I’d share in case anyone else here has felt something similar 💭

This article explains it really well:

Types of Anxiety

Would love to hear if anyone else relates to this

Hey everyone,

I wanted to start something a bit different here—more focused on how we’re actually doing day to day, not just big topics.

Being trans comes with a lot mentally and physically, and sometimes it’s easy to ignore our own well-being.

So just a simple check-in:

  • How are you feeling mentally right now?
  • Are you taking care of your body (even a little)?
  • What’s been helping you lately?
  • What’s been hard?

I’ve been trying to focus on a few basic things for myself:

  • staying mindful of my thoughts
  • moving my body a bit more
  • eating a bit better
  • and avoiding habits that make things worse

Nothing perfect, just trying to stay balanced.

Would love to hear how everyone else is doing 💜

Hey everyone,

I’ve been trying to simplify things for myself instead of overcomplicating mental health, fitness, and personal growth.

So I ended up creating a simple framework that’s been helping me stay more balanced:

AMEND

A — Avoid what harms you
M — Mind (meditation & awareness)
E — Exercise
N — Nutrition
D — Development

It’s something I created to help myself get through things and stay consistent, especially on harder days.

Not perfect, just something that’s been working for me.

If anyone’s interested, I wrote more about it here:

Would love to hear if you have your own systems or routines too.
