Should we normalize the whole dj booth people?

In my scene (western europe) it has pretty much become a thing for the good dancers to sit near the dj booth or hang around the dj booth. At the latest amsterdam salsa festival it was very much a thing.

When I say "good" dancers it may be a bit stretched to say that, because there are many who at that event didnt chill at the dj booth all the time. I saw terry dancing on the other side of the dancing hall far away from the dj booth.

Many of the amsterdam scene people and greek scene people were at the booth.

Idk why, but it gives me a weird feeling and vibe. As if there is a rift. Like there is some hierarchy. I also dont feel like asking those people for a dance because it seems like I might get a no faster. Im almost at 2 years dancing as a leader and I can say for a certainty I can at least make for an entertaining dance now, but im also a person who needs at least some signs of the other person enjoying themselves and not being stuck up.

Or maybe its just me and we should normalize sections where the better dancers are out of respect?

One famous international salsa instructor once told me he tells all his students to stay away from the dj booth.

In the end i started out salsa for the social dancing aspect of it. I had no clue about this social dynamic thing of better dancers having carved out a place for themselves at parts of the dance floor.

Do you guys like performances?

1 or 2 at a social I can be happy about. But lately and especially a thing at Congress's, it's packed. I haven't been to many Congress's, but the last one I went to the had more than an hour of shows.

For who are these shows? Im a social dancer and don't want to perform. I really love the social dancing aspect of salsa. Sure put a 5 minute show followed by another 5 minute, but more than 15 minutes? I paid to dance not to watch 1 hour shows.

Or is it just performers watching each others shows? The crowd is basically 80% performers themselves?

Maintaining good frame

Hi, I had a question for fellow leaders: how do you maintain good frame when the follower you are dancing with is less experienced and doesnt have a good frame, or her frame collapses all the time? When this happens I notice my own frame collapses too.

Does your stamina go up eventually?

In a few months from now ill be dancing for 2 years. Im in my early 30s, have a pretty demanding job (non physical). Male lead by the way.

Something which I've noticed is that after an hour or so of dancing I'll be too tired, to the point where I'll lose beat. It depends on the dj as well and the songs. Nice slow salsa songs? I will last longer then.

Then I see all these videos online of people who are drenched in sweat seemingly having danced for many hours. Also in their 30s even 40s+.

Whats the secret? A long nap before the social?
