Realignment Nightmare
I went in to my dentist because my bottom partial was causing me pain. It’s been about a year since I received my upper denture and my bottom partial. Never had a problem with the top, just the bottom. While I’m there, they tell me that they think I should have to top realigned. I say sure and they set things up.
I drop off my top on Monday morning and was told I could pick it up Tuesday afternoon. No problem, I can forgo chewing for a day. Tuesday comes and they give me my denture back. I put it in and it doesn’t fit. No by a little bit but by a huge amount. When I dropped off my top on Monday, I could eat just fine, now my teeth don’t even meet! They tell me to go home and give them a try.
I stop at Taco Bell and pick up a burrito. I can’t even bite through the burrito shell. I’m back the next day and they agree that there is a problem. So the doctor starts removing the alignment, but is not sure how much needs to be removed. After an hour of her grinding it down and shoving it into my mouth, I’m sore and extremely angry. They send me home and tell me not to use it anymore tonight and give my mouth time to heal. I try them again the next day and they still don’t meet up and everything still hurts. I go back in that day and they say we’ll send it back in and have them remove everything they put on.
Of course they’re closed today to observe the holiday, but they should be able to have them back on Monday. Once they get them back, they’ll redo the realignment mold and send it off. Per them, we’ll have you eating by Wednesday.
So, the best hope is that I will only miss out on chewing food for 8 days. No 4th of July barbecue for me. At this point, I think they’re going to have to just do the whole thing over again and who knows how long that will be. I’m sick of eating food I don’t need to chew. If and when they finally get this problem solved, I’m thinking about talking to a lawyer. They’ve already charged my insurance and I had to pay them $250 to get the realignment done, but they won’t charge me for the second realignment. How nice of them.
Any advice on my next step?
