My father passed recently and we have located his stamp collection which consists of bags and boxes with decades of mostly cancelled stamps still attached to the envelopes they were mailed with. They were stored in an attic which has had climate control issues and they are not organized or inventoried in any way. Family members say he took the collection to be appraised at some point and was told the collection itself is worthless because of the improper preservation/storage.

It's probably the family hoarding disease talking, but does a collection like this have any use to anybody? If not, they will go to the landfill. Thank you in advance for your thoughts.
