Camera question

We’ve been having issues with our Scouts being on their phones and a couple of phone getting lost (all of which were later found) so we have a phone box/bag that phones go in during meetings. I take photographs of the Scouts and their activities to be able to put on our private facebook group for parents to see but I have been thinking it would be good if the scouts took photos as well maybe to be shown on a slide show at our AGM. This leads me to my question.

Does anyone else have patrol cameras? If so what cameras do you use/what prices I’m not sure wherever to look at digital cameras or disposable ones.

Edit: this seems to have sparked a lot of opinions about phones at meetings, we have already made a decision about phones at our meetings and it’s been in place for the past couple of months, it has worked well for us and we don’t plan on changing it. What I’d like to know is about cameras - not phone cameras.

UK Explorers New Program

Are they any Explorer Leaders here who have been able to attend the New Program virtual meeting who are able to share the rough idea? I unfortunately had to miss the one that I was signed up for and the next one I’m signed up for isn’t till next month.

UK Explorer Leaders

Does any UK Explorer Leaders here run DofE? The school local to our group has recently stopped running DofE so we are looking into running it for Explorers, I’m just wondering what goes into running it and how I would go about starting it (I’m assuming there’s a course or training that needs to be done)?

Hammock recommendations

I am looking at getting a new hammock, my old one is a highlander (I can’t remember the exact modle) and I’m hoping for some suggestions, I am very short at 5” so something on the shorter side (and lighter) if possible would be great but my old hammock isn’t the lightest so weight isn’t a deal breaker.

I’m planning to use the hammock to take my scout group hammock camping (and hopefully keep going regularly) after recently refinding our old group hammocks so I don’t need anything fancy or really expensive. I’ve also heard that under quilts are worth getting so any recommendations on that as well would be great.

Explorer Section Team Lead

Hi 👋

We have a need for an Explorer section in our group (yes I know that they would be a District group technically) and I have been asked if I would be willing to be a the Section Team Lead for it. What does this role actually entail? What makes it different from a team member?
