How Many Times Would YOU Stop?

To ensure we are all aware that the 5th Street corridor is the fifth circle of hell, the city has now given us the intersection of 5th Street and Harris Road, where they have removed the old yield signs and installed a grand total of 3 signs telling drivers to stop. Each sign is at a different point of the ramp, and they are all staggered about 6 feet apart from each other. The first sign (visible behind the tree) explains that one should stop BEFORE the crosswalk IF there are pedestrians. The second sign (on the left) seems to suggest that one should stop in the middle of the painted box, just after the crosswalk. The third sign (on the far right) indicates that one should stop at the painted white line before merging onto Harris Rd. The amount of debate these signs have caused among friends would fill a Seinfeld episode. I have some friends who argue that drivers have to stop twice before merging. I myself argue drivers must only stop once if there are no pedestrians visible and the stop should be at the sign on the right. So, Cville Redditors, what would YOU do? I suggest having a dinner party and debating the issue.
