Anyone else disappointed by the quality of MUJI’s hemp denim?

I bought a pair of MUJI hemp denim expecting them to last years since the brand markets hemp as a resilient, durable natural fiber. After putting them into my normal clothing rotation, the fabric at the thighs thinned out incredibly fast and now there's a big hole.

When I reached out about the defect, corporate told me there was nothing they could do because a year had passed since the purchase date. No store credit, exchange, or at least a "I'll pass this information along to the relevant teams." Instead, they blamed the "natural characteristics and areas of wear" of the fabric, but I thought hemp was durable?

Has anyone else run into quality issues with their apparel lately, or is their customer service always this dismissive? I thought I was paying for durable, sustainable natural fibers, but it feels like MUJI expects their clothes to be treated as fast fashion.
