Is it true that Kamal Haasan was once a bigger superstar than Amitabh in India?

I've heard some gossip floating around about this, that Kamal Haasan was churning out back to back hits, one after another, single handedly carrying the industry on his shoulders. They say he effortlessly surpassed several superstars along the way, and eventually, even became a serious threat to Bachchan himself

Akshay gets trolled a lot for doing too many films, but Amitabh also used to put out 5-6 films a year during his prime, and nobody says anything about it.

Akshay gets trolled a lot for doing too many films, but Amitabh was doing same amount of films a year during his prime as well, and nobody really holds that against him. Amitabh was constantly working. With Akshay, though, people often use his film count as a criticism, even though Amitabh had a similarly hectic output during his peak.

With each era, star power in Bollywood has gradually decreased.

One of the biggest reasons is the rise of OTT platforms and the countless entertainment options available today. Earlier, audiences had far fewer choices, so major stars enjoyed unmatched craze and could pull massive crowds to theatres on their name alone. Today, people are spoiled for choice with streaming platforms, social media, gaming, and global content, making it much harder for any single actor to command the same level of nationwide obsession. That's why the era of overwhelming, once in a generation star power has become increasingly rare.

Who is the better actor among them?

Both are among the finest performers Indian cinema has ever produced, but they have completely different acting styles. Amitabh is known for his larger than life screen presence and versatility across commercial and dramatic roles, while Naseeruddin Shah is celebrated for his natural, understated performances and mastery of realistic acting. If you had to choose just one based purely on acting ability, who would you pick, and what makes you say that?

I'd go with Amitabh, simply because he's not only a great actor but also a huge superstar. Superstars have their own limitations and audience expectations, yet despite that, he has pulled off so many different roles brilliantly. That's something I really admire.

Was Dharmendra a bigger star than Amitabh at his peak?

I genuinely don't know much about Dharmendra's peak. I've only heard that he was a very big star. Amitabh's peak was from the 1970s to the early 1980s, so I have a fair idea of his stardom, but I don't know much about Dharmendra's filmography or peak years. Was his peak actually bigger than Amitabh Bachchan's?

The most GOATed character from Sholay?

The movie is full of iconic characters, and almost every major role has become a part of pop culture in one way or another. But if you had to choose just one character who completely stole the show and left the biggest impact, who would it be? Would you go with Gabbar Singh, Jai, Veeru, Thakur, or someone else? I'm curious to see who people think stands above the rest when it comes to screen presence, memorable moments, and overall legacy.

Who do you see delivering the next blockbuster first out of the three Khans?

Well, it's been quite a long time since we've had a release from the Khans. Shah Rukh Khan's last release was in 2023, while Salman Khan and Aamir Khan last had releases in 2025. It's been a while since we've seen a major film from any of them. SRK's next film is King, Salman's is Battle of Galwan, and I'm not sure about Aamir Khan's next project. So, who do you think will be the first among the three Khans to deliver the next blockbuster?

Geraftaar (1985) brought together Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, but Amitabh Bachchan still looked the most powerful on screen

Watched Geraftaar and really felt that during those days Amitabh Bachchan’s screen presence overshadowed everyone else by a huge margin. His entry happened almost an hour into the film, but after that it was nonstop goosebumps. Even his introduction scene, where he saves Kamal Haasan from goons in jail, was incredibly badass.
