Update on my Job Resignation

A few days ago, I posted that I was planning to quit my job and work on my startup full-time.

Plot twist: before I could resign, I got laid off. Timing really said “I got you” 😂

On the bright side, I received severance and notice-period pay, which gave me a decent runway to focus on building.

After working for 8 years straight and remotely for the last 6 yrs, life suddenly feels very different.

No alarm panic.

No meeting anxiety.

No Sunday evening dread.

Now my days are simple:

Gym and swimming, 5 days a week

Cooking my own meals

Eating clean

Watching movies

Honestly, I feel lighter. More free. More willing to take risks.

Being single with no EMIs or major responsibilities definitely helps too 😄

The startup is bootstrapped, already generating decent revenue, so there’s no VC pressure, no investor updates, no “growth at all costs” drama. Just building steadily and sustainably.

Still adjusting to this new phase, but so far, I’m enjoying it.

Denied the 1L/day opportunity

I run a startup that provides cooks and chefs for homes. We were approached by a robotics company to give our chefs, camera hats, so they can build a dataset of how chefs work, which can be used in the future to make robots for the kitchen and replace these human chefs.

I am in a dilemma about what to do. It's a lot of money. I am concerned about the people who work with us, approximately 5,000. For now, I have postponed the discussions.

Got laid off today

Hr called me and asked to resign in 30mins. That's it. No notice period, no prior alert.

Paid me 2 month salary, severance of 3 months.

Is it ok?

PS: I have 8 yrs of experience in mobile app development in Flutter, Kotlin, Java. I was in this company for last 5.5yrs
