I just realised that if you hold down the whip button the whip doesn't automatically come back. It just stays and interacts when walking around like rope. I wonder if there's any use for it or if it's just a fun little detail
I Want to share this idea because I think it could be a cool new genre, but I don't have the resources to make it myself. I thought it’d go well here.
This concept is basically a horror movie, but the scares come from the hero hunting and terrifying the bad guys. The jump scares and tension are driven entirely by the hero's actions. You are rooting for the good guy, even as he terrifies both the villains and the audience.
To show how this premise would work, I’m using a legendary fictional character from a video game. Please enjoy. I give you:
THE THIRD EYE
ABANDONED WAREHOUSE - NIGHT
A vast, decaying industrial floor. Shadows devour the architecture. The only light source is the jittery, sickly hum of a failing halogen bulb swinging from a high girder.
Two Mercenaries pace the concrete floor. They are geared up in heavy ballistic vests, holding assault rifles. Their posture isn't commanding,it’s frantic. Paranoid.
Mercenary 1: frantically sweeps his weapon barrel across the empty rafters. His breathing is shallow.
Mercenary 2: (whispering) Where is the squad from the western gate? They aren't answering the radio. Nobody is answering.
Mercenary 2 rubs a sweaty palm against his combat trousers, refusing to look away from a pitch-black loading dock door.
Mercenary 1: They just checked in five minutes ago. Stop pacing. You're losing your cool.
Mercenary 2: A power grid doesn't just 'fail'. The main breakers were severed from the outside. Clean cuts. There is something out there.
A sharp CLACK echoes from the high catwalks above.
Both mercenaries instantly snap their weapons upward. The swinging halogen lamp casts long, sweeping shadows across the walls.
Then, a high-tech ringing chirps from across the floor.
Mercenary 1 glues his eyes toward the sound.
Mercenary 2 (voice trembling) Show yourself!
Silence stretches. The swinging light bulb flickers violently. BZZZT.
For a fraction of a second, the light dies completely. In that pitch-black window, high up on a vertical structural pillar, a faint silhouette is visible—clinging effortlessly to the steel beam in a high split-jump configuration.
The light pops back on. The pillar is empty.
Mercenary 1: Something's hunting us.
Mercenary 2 steps backward, trying to find the solid reassurance of a concrete wall. He backs into a deeply recessed alcove, swallowed by total shadow. He keeps his rifle raised forward, eyes bulging.
Mercenary 1 cautiously approaches the source of the high-tech ringing.
Suddenly, a choked scream and a burst of rapid gunfire erupt from the alcove behind him.
Mercenary 1 spins around, nervously approaching the location of the scream. He looks into the darkness. Nothing.
Directly behind him, deep within the blackness of the alcove, a faint, low-frequency electronic hum rises. It is a sharp, rising digital pitch.
VREEEEEE.
Three piercing, glowing green lenses snap awake in a triangular formation right behind Mercenary 1's shoulder.
Before Mercenary 1 can even register the sound, a gloved hand aggressively clamps over his mouth from behind. A dark sleeve slips around his throat. He is pulled backward into the absolute darkness of the alcove without a sound.
His rifle drops into the dust with a dull THUD.
FADE TO BLACK.
The three green circles linger in the dark.
END.
Hope it looks good, tried my best with the rehaul
