Teaching Tips - Funny Ones

I was in the staff room the other day and we were talking about tips for an upcoming PD.

My favourite one follows:

Always clean the whiteboard up and down,
Side to side makes a jiggling butt cause to students to frown.

Would love to hear some more!

Dyscalculia

Hi everyone. My school has a dyscalculia test (online) but it’s not particularly great. It’s not age level specific. Literally asking, what is bigger? 7 or 18. This isn’t particularly good for an 11 year old who has a better understanding of numbers.

Is there anything online available that I could try out? Or if there are resources to test kids with?

We are doing this for screening purposes at our school so we can provide math interventions for these suspected kids - and revert to external support.

Should teachers do duties and how many?

Some schools do 1-1.5 hours of duty a week, and I’ve seen some staff do upwards of 2 hours. This is on top of 5-7 hours of lessons a day (per week).

I personally feel it’s good to do duties but up to an hour at most?

An answer for both primary and secondary would be good.
