Spoiler alert
I was honestly really enjoying the movie, but the last 40 minutes completely derailed it. The writing got incredibly lazy, and that twist with Sai Kumar felt forced just for the sake of shock value.
It basically boils down to two huge flaws that ruined the story for me:
It defeats its own core message: The whole point of the movie was supposed to be that raising girls to be brave is better than raising them in fear. But then the story punishes both Gayatri and Manikanta anyway. It unintentionally sends a really bleak message: no matter how you raise a woman, society will crush her, and if you dare to fight back, you get killed. It completely contradicts what the movie was trying to say.
The emotional payoff makes no sense: The awesome auto fight scene after the "Mallepoola Pallaki" song hypes up the idea that God protects his devotees, especially since the father is wearing the sacred maala. To suddenly kill off Manikanta right after that setup feels like a cheap, unearned emotional punch that ignores the movie's own buildup.
Instead of giving us an empowering story, it feels like rage-bait that sacrificed a good plot just to make the audience feel terrible at the end.
Initially when the movie got announced, genuinely was excited seeing the first look, teaser and hype around the movie and as someone who was waiting to see good Telugu family entertainers in theatres, was hoping that this movie will be a success.
But feel the movie’s been on a downhill since the trailer. The trailer was mid, mallepoola pallaki song was hugely disappointing and adding to that all the profanity in movie event just makes me feel that movie may not land well.
Would be happy to be proven wrong after release
Still tough to take today’s defeat but listing out my 3 takeaways for the season:
Our strength is also our weakness: we thrive on fearless batting but I felt it’s the batting not the bowling that was our weakness majorly after the first 4 games. Really feel we could’ve won most games if we were sensible at crucial times. Would be happy to see if we can play opposition’s strike bowlers on merit instead of trying to be hyper aggressive. Disappointed with Vettori not talking about this in post match team meetings after we’ve lost.
We SRH fans are equally volatile as our team. One loss and we have written off this team (including me) and just before playoffs we were talking about playing 3 consecutive matches against RCB even before the final 2 spots have been confirmed and also not considering GT and RR as worthy opponents in playoffs. We need to be more humble.
Finally, most of us would’ve taken this result if given in the first 1-2 weeks of this tournament. We’ve got plenty of positives to look forward to : Klassen and Ishan’s clutch innings, Sakib and overall death bowling, winning in away venues like Chepauk and Wankhede. If we can get a strike bowler like Rabada/Archer who can get wickets in power play, an experienced spinner and some experience in finishing, I think we will be a well rounded team
All in all, really proud of team’s effort. It’s not easy being an SRH fan but that’s what makes the ride worth it🧡
