First proper race and am I a tourist?
I’ve (41f) been on Zwift for a couple of years and slowly improved through workouts, group rides etc.
I’ve done the odd event now and again that classified as a race, but never joined one with the intention of actually racing.
Today I decided to see what the Tour Ignite series was all about, I joined (lowest category) with 40 others, was really fun!
Halfway through, some of the riders (most with a club behind their name) started mentioning tourists and how to identify them, and whether certain people in the race were tourists or not. I got the impression that the ‘tourists’ were somehow affecting the race, although I couldn’t tell you who they were!
What is a tourist in the context of a Zwift race? Am I a tourist as a new racer without having joined the race on behalf of a club? Did I somehow ruin their race by not knowing all the rules?
