If John never discovered magic where do you think he'd be ? In my opinion, probably dead or some sort of musician

Is the origin of when/how John's coat still the new 52 one ? I hope not
I forget if it's told in vertigo or not.

Has John ever been confirmed mental illnesses ? This is a not really serious question I'm just curious. And I assume not since everything with ravenscar he probably avoids that sorta stuff.

( and yes I know he was diagnosed with lung cancer that's not what I'm talking about ha ha )

I think that John and Chas's friendship is one of the most interesting parts of Hellblazer to me . On the surface it's just another show of how John manipulates people around him. But I like the way they both use each other. How they both envy each others lives in different ways.
It's a toxic friendship most definitely but Chas is the only Consistent thing in John's life.

Me personally I hope they do something more unique with him and don't just make him "edgy " . I'd love a take that focuses on psychological horror stuff like old hellblazer. Or one that plays with his anti hero status a bit either making him more good or bad.

In my opinion it should be past his knees and also be kinda of thick and very baggy
Don't like Matt Ryan's coat at all , but it's prob like that for budget reasons

In vertigo hellblazer you could see his mental state change and waver. And that would cause a change in his appearance. I feel like nowadays he always looks like a mess and wears the same red tie all the time.

For me it would be
• to be set it London ( bare minimum)
• have the inclusion of English politics
• have John not do flashy magic
• inner monologue from John

And for things that I would like ( personal preference)

• to be animation
• be set in the late 80s
• show the blue suit with earring for at least a little bit
• be in a show format

I don't want to seem like a negative Nancy so I'm gonna talk about my favorite hellblazer lol

Family man - one of the best arcs for John , I think it really shows what I love about John and his stories . A story about finding a murder has the same weight as saving the world

Return to ravenscar- I just really enjoy how ravenscar is depicted here and the resolution for John's traumas , art is great too

Critical mass - I really didn't enjoy how ennises run wrapped up , so this felt like the conclusion his run should have had

Dead boys heart( and the issue previous )- this is my favorite hellblazer issue of all time , it's the first I ever bought physically , the exploration on John as a character made him one of my favorite characters of all time ( I could talk more but I don't wanna yap too much )

Empathy is the enemy- I know a lot of people don't care much for Mina's run but I think her writing for John is up there in some of my favorite , also the plot was very morrison like confusing but intresting

Hellblazer special - some of ennises best writing a very empathetic look at a very serious issue ( that ennis takes too lightly in my opinion some time ) but god this story is heartbreaking

The unicorn and mermaid stuff from spurriers run( don't remember the proper name of the stories ) -just really solid story's for John , the epitome of a good hellblazer story . Good stuff wish more modern John stories were like this

Dangerous habits - I mean yeah it's the definitive Hellblazer story . Also really human look at John , some of favorite parts are him in the hospital with the old man
