propagated my pothos and placed the cuttings in a small plastic bottle. Wonder if I should cut all of the nodes so it could grow less awkward? 🤔🤔 Whats your thoughts on this one

I am trying to study how to do Redstone and I stumble across mumbo jumbo and he showed a tutorial on an automatic dispenser that dispense all of the items until it's empty. I get the lower part where it creates a loop but I dont get the upper part, like how does the dispenser get activates without having direct power perpendicularly?
