Need advice on 14ers!
Hi guys! Like everybody else id like to complete a handful of 14ers and seeking some general advice on which ones to attempt first.
Background information:
- I am 18M, above average athletically and in decent shape, nothing crazy.
- I go to CU Boulder currently and am an upcoming sophomore. I’ve lived in Reno, Nevada for my entire life, around 5000’ elevation. I’ve skied my entire life, my main resort being Mt. Rose which is around 8000’-9000’ in elevation. I also skied quite a bit last year at Copper, Abasin, etc.
- I just hiked my local mountain in Reno, Nevada yesterday, Mt. Rose. This hike was 2400’ in elevation gain, 10.9 miles, and peak elevation was 10,776’. It took me just shy of 4 hours and was an easy hike for me. I have obvious soreness the next day but nothing bad at all.
Taking all of this into account, I’d love to hear any advice you guys have, if I should train more, what gear is necessary, etc Thanks for reading.
