Classic Mustang owners — how old are you?

Just curious about the age group of people who actually own these cars. 😁

If you own a 1964½–1973 Mustang, which age group are you in?

  • 16–30
  • 31–40
  • 41–50
  • 51-60
  • 61-70
  • 71+

If you don't mind, comment with your age and what year/model Mustang you have — something like:

>

I'm just curious to see how the classic Mustang crowd breaks down by age and which years people own.

No scientific research here 😂 — just curious! 🐎

Another what's it worth post

I've been browsing eBay for some coupes or fastbacks, and see this one posted for the third time now. Seller (dealership) never answered any questions I sent, but wondering what something like this would be worth. I'm thinking 20-24K, they have it at 27.5 OBO.

It's a 68 J code coupe, VIN they posted does indeed say it is a J code, (302 4 bbl.).

It is not however the original paint, was repainted they said, and a "newer" Holley 4 bbl, not the Ford Autolite one, small drawbacks, but nothing horrible.

What are classicmustangs thoughts? :-)

What a difference an inch or two can make!

Slowly updating worn out emblems on the car, or broken ones like I did the Mustang signature fender emblem recently. The steering wheel one was driving me nuts, ugly, super faded, and hard to see the ole Stang.

Got the new one in with a few other goodies, and dang, it looks so much better, not even in remounted in the car yet!

I am also not putting the steering wheel cover back on, I like the look better without it, and the steering wheel is actually in really good condition.

I may regret that in this Texas heat, but I'll suffer, lol.

Anyone running a Scott Drake "Humphugger" console? Need a sanity check before I buy.

Hey y'all,

Looking to finally add some cup holders and an armrest to my '69 Coupe (standard carpet floor, no factory console). I stumbled across the Scott Drake "Humphugger" console that supposedly just wedges itself between the front bucket seats without any drilling.

To be honest, looking at the stock product photos online, the molded hump on the bottom looks completely backward and kind of goofy. I've been told it’s just the exact inverse shape of the transmission tunnel drop-off and that the seats pinch it into place, but I want some real-world feedback before I pull the trigger.

For those of you who actually have one:

  • How’s the fit? Does it actually stay put, or am I going to launch my drinkl the first time I step on the gas?
  • Is it sturdy? Does it actually hold a standard Yeti sized cup or water bottle without tipping over?
  • Color matching: My wife thinks the black version will look sharp to balance out my interior (plus, I can always dye/paint it burgundy later if I change my mind). If you painted yours, how did it hold up?

Appreciate any insight or pics of it installed in your cars. Thanks!

Interior now (ignore the velvet seatbelts, seller did that, got new seat belts orderd)

What do you do with old decorative parts, like emblems?

Slowly I am updating some cosmetic things, like the grill emblem, and fender emblem that was broken. Rather than stuff them in a box, in the attic with other original parts, I was thinking to maybe get a peg board (2x4 feet) to hang them on in the garage, in front of where I park it.

Whatchya'll doing with stuff like this? Any other ideas/suggestions?

Gemini must think the emblems are 3 feet long! failed photoshop request at the bottom, lol

How to access the back of the fender to get to the posts for the Mustang emblem?

OK, maybe I am being dumb (happens a lot), but how the heck do you access the back of the fender to remove the fender emblem? I see no easy way to stuff a hand back there, like I did on my F-150 (tight fit, but got the emblem removed).

Tried opening the door, reach behind the tire, under the hood, just no places I can find. Please tell me that the fender does not have to come off! :-)

No AC, over 100, Taco Tuesday, heck yeah!

I don't care how hot it is outside, never to hot to roll the windows down, pop open the little (practically useless) kick panel vents and go for a drive! Bonus, since it is Tuesday, taco night. :)

Not even a mile out, 2 honks, a wave and a thumbs up, two more said nice car in the parking lot, and one noticed my 1969 original plates (got them on eBay and registered so I am legal).

I really, really enjoy driving this car!

Gas cap, filler neck question, driving me crazy!

So this is one of those annoying things, drives me crazy. It works, no gas leaks or sloshes out, but WTH can I do to fix this?

I think the previous owner put in a new 20 gallon tank, but the necks slots are not lined up properly so when the cap is tightened, the Mustang is running towards the sky.

Looking at new filler necks, they all seem to be clocked the same way (at least in their images displayed), so what can I do to get the slots at 9 o'clock, and 3 o'clock, to match the cap?

This is a 69 Coupe also, sorry forgot that detail.

'69 Mustang: Headlight removal trick? + Borgeson Power Steering conversion reviews?

Hey everyone,

Looking for some advice on two separate items for my 1969 Mustang:

  1. Headlight Removal Issues (High/Low Beams)I am trying to remove the headlights but I am completely stuck. I cannot figure out how to access the two screws to remove the outer bezel/trim ring around the headlight, nor the ring holding the bulb into the bucket. Is the inner retaining ring a keyhole design? If I can slide a skinny screwdriver past the trim ring, can I just loosen those screws slightly and twist the ring to pop it out? Or do I absolutely have to remove the outer headlight bezel first to get the bulb out? Any tips on accessing those hidden screws without scratching the paint would be huge. I do not have a lift, so this will be done laying under the car on the garage floor, if underneath access required.

  1. Borgeson Power Steering Conversion Kit Experiences: I am planning a steering upgrade down the road. Right now, I have the factory Bendix power steering setup, but I hate the vague, loose feel and the constant steering wheel play. Has anyone here done the Borgeson power steering box conversion? I want to know real-world feedback: Does it actually give you a tighter, more modern steering feel? How was the installation process (especially clearance with exhaust/headers)?Is it worth the money compared to rebuilding the factory control valve and ram?

For context, almost all of my other steering and suspension components have already been upgraded or replaced, so this gearbox setup is the very last 'old part' left to tackle. Hoping to resolve the roughly 2 inches of play in the wheel, make the wife feel safer driving it.

Searched for reviews, but nothing very recent, so asking again. :-)

Thanks in advance for any help or insight!

Just joined the club! New-to-me '69 Coupe (and a formal apology to my bank account).

Hey y'all, just joined the forum after adopting a '69 Coupe. I’m planning on using the search function heavily to copy everyone else's homework on upgrades and fixes, but I wanted to say hello first!

I do have one specific request: My car is a factory non-AC model. If you've added Vintage Air or a similar aftermarket kit to your '69/'70, could you share some interior pics? I'm trying to see how the vents look integrated into the dash, or if I should just accept my fate and buy a battery-powered clip-on fan.

Here are a few pictures of the new project. Glad to be here and ready to start ordering parts I probably don't need yet!

Dog dish hub caps and wash the day I got it. Few quick updates later, American Racing Tq Thrust II, BFGs of course, and dual flowmaster 40's with an H pipe. Quick and easy mods I liked!
